Tirzepatide has been found to safely promote substantial weight loss with the brand names Mounjaro and Zepbound, which is currently FDA approved to help treat obesity and those with diabetes type 2 to help regulate blood sugar and lower HbA1c levels. Some compounding pharmacies are now providing the active ingredient, Tirzepatide, without the high costs of the brand names.
Tirzepatide is a GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) agonist that helps regulate appetite and food intake. It works by activating the GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors in the body to decrease hunger and promote weight loss. Like semaglutide, tirzepatide is a once weekly injectable medication that clients can administer just under the skin.
At Rise Up, the provider will monitor your progress and help you determine how long your treatment plan will be. For sustainable weight loss, the use of Tirzepatide should be combined with a healthy low calorie diet and exercise routine. At Rise Up, we will help guide you to a routine that is right for you!
Who should not take Tirzepatide
You should NOT take Tirzepatide if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or plan on becoming pregnant in the next few months. You should also not take Tirzepatide if you have a history of pancreatitis, multiple endocrine neoplasia, medullary thyroid carcinoma, or are taking insulin lowering medications.
Tirzepatide may cause GI upset, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and gas, but typically resolve over time. The Tirzepatide prescribed at Rise Up may be compounded with B12 or other nutrients to reduce possible GI symptoms. Rise Up will also coach clients on the proper nutrition and eating habits to prevent GI symptoms.
